Refreshing Iced Tea

This is something I really make a lot because it's easy, healthy and delicious. I als always make it in 1500ml versions. I sip of this all day and most of the time I brew some new tea to make extra when I'm finishing off the recipe.

The main ingredients and there benefits are:

  • Green Tea: Contains antioxidants, improve brain function and burns fat (site).

  • Ginger: It lowers blood sugar levels, it's an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant (site).

  • Kurkuma: Improves brain function, is also an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant (site).

  • Black Pepper: Boosts your metabolism, helps digestion, is an anti-oxidant and activates the curcumine in the kurkuma (site).

The Iced Tea is very refreshing for hot days because of the Ginger and Lime juice. The Kurkuma and Pepper gives a special experience to your tastebuds. The main taste you observe is the Green Tea but it's a little spicy. Really Just a little Spicy, trust me. If this would be to spicy the taste would get rather dull after a time. And it doesn't, It really doesn't.

Recipe for 1,5l

Prep Time: 5 min.

Total Time: 12h.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp fresh dried Green Tea, => I buy mine at Javana.

  • 1 Fresh Ginger Root of 8 cm,

  • 1 Fresh Kurkuma Root of 4 cm,

  • 1/2 Bio Lemon or Lime,

  • About 8 Black Peppercorns,

  • 1,5 l Water,

  • 3 tbsp Agave Sirup => Or more if you like it sweeter.

Recipe:

  • Boil 1 l water.

  • Put the Green Tea in an empty teabag.

  • Slice the Ginger and Kurkuma.

  • Juice the Lemon or Lime.

  • Crush the Peppercorns roughly.

  • Put the Green Tea in a pot together with the Ginger and Kurkuma and Peppercorns. Pour the boiled water in the pot and set aside for 5 - 6 min.

  • Remove the Teabag.

  • Set aside the Tea until it's body temperature. Transfer it to the fridge to let it cool down entirely. => this can take a while so I do this at night while I sleep... Hmm, sleep.

  • When the Tea is cold, Sift out Everything. And add the rest of the water.

  • If you like bubbles in your water this is the moment to do it. I do this with my sodastream to give it a nice sparkle. This step is just Optional and absolutely not necessary.

  • Add the Agave Sirup and stir to mix.

Tips:

  • If you don't like the taste of the Black Pepper to much you can add less Peppercorns, or put them with the Green Tea so you can Remove them after 5 - 6 min.

  • If you believe the taste of Ginger is to much you can remove it sooner.

  • If you added bubbles to your Tea, it's important to hold your bottle edgeways when you're adding the Agave Sirup Slowly. For you might lose half of your Tea. And that would be very regrettable.

ENJOY!!!
