This is one of my go to recipes if I have lots of people coming over. It's easy, cheap and delicious. And always a crowd pleaser.
It does take a while in the oven put you put it in before your guests arrive and you can even have a drink with them before you have to go to the kitchen again.
They may take a while in the oven but you will get nice golden crunchy oven baked patatos.
I hope you like them as much as me and my friends do.
Recipe for 10 people
Prep time: 15 min
Cooking time: 2h
Ingredients:
2,5 kg Patatos
1 bag Baking Powder (8 g)
3 tbsp Rice Semolina
Salt & Pepper
500 ml Sunflower Oil
Optional: Fresh herbs like Thyme or Rosemary
Recipe:
Heat the oven to 220 °C.
Wash the patatos well because we're keeping the skin on.
Cut them in corners so they can become extra crunchy.
Rinse them again and let them leak out.
Throw them in a bowl, add the Baking Powder, Semolina, Salt & Pepper. >>> On this stage you can also add the optional herbs.
Throw them together until the patatos are evenly coated.
Take a baking tray and cover the bottom with the baking paper.
Add half of the oil to the tray. Put the coated patatos in and cover with the the oil.
Place the tray in the heated oven and bake for 1 h 30 - 2 h on 220 °C.
Now and then carefully turn the patatos so all sides are equally crunchy.
When you serve them scoop them in a bowl without the left over oil.
