Crunchy Cheese Twists

Updated: Feb 20, 2018

These are my little guilty pleasures. And at my house they mostly don't have the time to cool off entirely. They are So easy and good when they just come out the oven, but of course you can also store them in an airtight container once there cooled.

You can make them when you are having friends over or just for yourself. They are great to make just them when your in the mood for it, or when you have some left over dough. This way you don't waste a thing. And it's just double pleasure. Because sincerely I've never eaten something disgusting made with puff pastry.

Recipe for 2 persons.

Prep time: 10-15 min

Cooking time: 30 min

Ingredients:

  • (leftover) Puff Pastry Dough

  • 1 tbsp Flour

  • 1 cup Grated Cheese -> I used grated Emmental

  • 1 Egg Yoke

  • 1 tbsp Water

  • 1 tbsp Fleur de Sel

  • 1/2 tbsp Black Pepper

Recipe:

  • Warm up your oven to 200°C.

  • Take a little bit of the cheese to the side for later.

  • Take the dough put cheese on one half and fold it, repeat until there's no more cheese.

  • Use the flour to dust the dough and flatten it out with a rolling pin until it's 1/2 cm thick.

  • Slice the dough into thick strips of 2 cm wide.

  • Slice the strips into a length of 4 cm long.

  • Put some baking paper on an oven grate .

  • Take the little strips of dough and give them a twit in the middle when you lay them on the baking paper.

  • Mix the egg yoke with the water.

  • Put the egg mixture on the dough twists.

  • Sprinkle some pepper and fleur de sel over the dough.

  • Finnish the twists off with some cheese you put aside before.

  • Bake for 20 - 25 min on 200°C, until golden brown.

ENJOY!!!
